Fun for Valentines Day

Valentines Time, February 14th, is really a fun time for each young and old! It is a day to believe of these we love and celebrate friendship and kindness. It was 1 of my favorite winter holidays when the children were younger as I loved all the hoopla from the parties in school, Scouts and Sunday School. It was a break from the winter doldrums! I loved heading towards the shop to let them each choose out their own Valentines. Back then "computer printables" had been not in the vocabulary, if you are able to think it! We purchased the outdated fashioned boxed cards that you tore apart about the perforated lines. They loved to choose out their own themes, be in Ninja Turtles, Super Heroes, Care Bears, or Cabbage Patch Kids. Yes, I'm definitely dating myself as I think back on those decades! Then we would get boxes and each 1 would wrap and decorate their own personal mailboxes! As Valentines began arriving from relatives; into the box they would go till Valentine's Day!

In our house, we usually added a component of giving to the day. We would bake and deliver home made cookies to elderly neighbors. We'd collect coins in a big decorated Valentines Time jug that we had decorated after shortly after Christmas and have fun viewing it grow. On Valentine's Time we would count the coins and determine wherever we would donate the monies. One year it had been the nearby volunteer Fire Department as my son thought since the trucks were red and Santa always visited the town with the firemen each year, they ought to receive the gift. We created presents for all of the grandparents, that are still around these days at Grandma and Grandpa's house!Flowers Valentines We tried to make the children focus on the ideas of loving and caring in addition to the enjoyable of receiving.

Over the decades we now have done various items to celebrate on the actual day but their all time favorite was the "Sweet Treat" specific. From the time they received up, they could eat their meal in whatever purchase they wanted. I put all of the food out about the table from main program to desserts and they could consume it in whatever order they wanted! Most likely the absolute worst thought ever and I would most likely be scolded by nutritionists and pediatricians alike, but they're all grown now and no worse for the use and it continues to become one of their favorite Valentine's Time memories!

As they got older, my husband and I began to have adult Valentines Time events. Occasionally it was out to dinner with friends then back to our home for dessert. Other occasions it was a cocktail party or a desserts and drinks gathering. We would always cap the night off with a fun online game and I truly believe that was the highlight of the celebration.
